KYLE HICKS HEALY endeavors to capture the quality of light and the essential spirit of her subjects with expressive brushstrokes and impressionistic style. She pursues a quality in her work that expresses a tension of joy grounded in reality, and derives her influences and inspiration from her natural and domestic surroundings as well as from literature and history.
Her range is versatile: her portraiture illuminates a particular solitary figure in a state of action or contemplative repose, and her more abstracted pieces often reflect her fascination with repetitive patterns and forms, especially those found in the natural world on land and in the sea. Her work, including custom commissions, is held by private collectors internationally and across the United States.
Kyle is a graduate of the College of William & Mary with an M.A. from Columbia University Teacher’s College, and she studied illustration at the School of Visual Arts.
She lives in Stamford, CT, with her husband, two children, and roguish yellow lab, Willoughby.
